Curieuse french for Curious. It was named after a 17th Century french exploring ship. There is an island in the Seyschell called Curieuse. It was a leper colony till 1965. Now a marine Sanctuary.

I'm generally against changing a boats name. Mine came with the name "Deborah" and a lot of history.

1st thing I came up against was using the radio at bridges, marinas, etc and having to anounce that I am Deborah
2nd thing I have a lot of history too including a 1st wife named Deborah and a girlfriend of the same name at one time.

As easy going as my wife is, that is not her name, and a name change was in order.

I put myself through civilian flight training then spent the next 25 years as an airborne law enforcement officer flying airplanes and helicopters. 95% of the other pilots were ex-army pilots. In their eyes, the army way is the only way and if you're not army, you're not $#!&.

I wound up early in my career known as the "S"tupid "N"on "A"rmy "P"ilot. Soon, my callsign became SNAP one to everyone's delight. There was nothing else to name the old girl than SNAP ONE.

That, is how shit happens....
