I guess some of you may know this already, but it is new news for me...

We all, or most of us remember Cliff who lived in Xcalak ... thanks to Fender for giving me a last name..

I found this..

with a last name I googled "cliff evans from xcalak"
his name came up numerous times.. in one I found this from a may 2010 newsletter..
Now some sad news.
In February (2010) we laid Cliff, who came here to live out his remaining years, to rest in the little cemetery here in Xcalak. We will miss his fine writing ( South of Town, http://www.Portillias) and his many kindnesses to the children of the Costa Maya.

Portillas dot com has been defunct since last december.. I will miss cliff... was really looking forward to meeting him this summer or at least hunting for his house.. maybe I can find his stone in the cemetary.. and say hi..
fair winds my friend..
'bella

I've been trying to confirm this (Although I don't think there are too many Cliff Evans in Xcalac). If we can, perhaps he should go on the Sunset Cruise page.

Hienz, this all started because we are planning on going and looking at a few cities in Mexico to move to. I am not fond of where were are, most of the year.. prices are cheap but not as cheep as mexico.. Xckalak, was on our list.. I thought to contact Cliff and offer to buy him Lunch/supper...

I had noticed his website www dot Portillos dot com has been down since the end of last December.. so I asked Fender and he gave me a last name..
I googled his name and the city.. midway down the page is where I found mention of his passing on a newsletter buried in the newsletter..

(Sigh) Life is too damn short! Neither I nor my friends will live long enough to be able to all meet together.

At least we have here, right?

You are so right... Most of us are flung far and wide, and will die that way, but through venues like this we can share more with each other more than would have ever been possible before. We may not meet, but there is no reason to not interact with others like us, no reason to be alone...

Left the boat in St Croix - now Fla
I just found this :(
I had sent Cliff $ for his relief effort and in doing so got to know him better than I might have otherwise. I wonder how much time I have left and what I'm doing with it .............
